In this project, we applied our values to create a visually stunning and emotionally resonant space—a school lobby designed to spark joy, curiosity, and belonging for young minds. Abundant natural light and a sense of openness replace the dull, uninspiring lobbies of the past. Every element, from the softly lit columns to the seamless curves, was chosen to foster emotional well-being while maintaining functionality. The illuminated columns, with their vertical slits, evoke serenity and aspiration, symbolizing growth as they guide the eye upwards.
A defining feature of the design is the Trophy Wall—a double-height masterpiece that showcases the school’s achievements and embodies its ethos of excellence and potential. More than a display of awards, it serves as a beacon of motivation for students and parents alike, reminding them that every child has the potential to claim a place on those shelves. Atelier Astil’s founder, Arpita Sharma, explains, “I designed this space imagining myself as a kid, reflecting on my own school memories. Every curve and detail mirrors what I wished to see and feel as a child.”
At the heart of the school lies the central bridge, connecting different blocks and acting as more than just a physical structure. It becomes a space for meaningful social interactions, play, and shared experiences—fostering a sense of community. Meanwhile, the reception area continues the narrative of creativity with its marble-clad back wall symbolizing mountains and valleys, encouraging imagination. Curved furniture and seamless designs blur the line between function and artistry, allowing children to engage with their environment in unique and inspiring ways.
This project represents Atelier Astil’s commitment to shaping young minds through thoughtful architecture. From the illuminated columns that inspire growth to spaces that nurture creativity, the design goes beyond aesthetics to support emotional development and social connection.
